Feast of
the Presentation of the Lord
February 2, 2010
The rite of perpetual profession is an
act voluntarily made by a person to give herself to God in the
service of the Church.
When the Sister is called, she
answers, HERE I AM, as a
personal response to her God as she offers herself to Him as a total
gift.
The Bishop will question the Sisters
if they truly realize the seriousness of the commitment they are
about to make and the consequence of this in their lives. The Sisters, with full knowledge, and full consent and
resoluteness, answer these questions as a sign of their definitive
commitment.
In the Litany of the Saints,
we join them in fervent prayer as they beg God and the company of
the holy ones to sustain them in their holy desire.
Each Sister will pronounce her formula of profession
as a declaration in public and a confirmation of her desire to
commit herself to God and His purpose from now
on until death.
Then, she signs the contract
on the altar, as a seal of her total self-oblation.She belongs to God, and she belongs to the SPC Congregation. All her life will be lived in this congregation until she
breathes her final YES to God.
We are called to be
consecrated women, transmitters of life, burning with an ardent love for
Christ,
radiating His compassion, His mercy and His tenderness.CA
