Formation to religious life does not
end with perpetual profession. The religious is continually challenged
to mature in all aspects : physical, psychological, intellectual and
spiritual, in order to deepen her vocational response. The scope of
continuing formation is wide with the local community as the chief place
of formation. There are, however, outstanding moments called SPIRITUAL
RENEWAL PROGRAM of forty days which each perpetually professed sister
undergoes after every five years. A special fifteen day-SPIRITUAL
ENRICHMENT PROGRAM is given to those of three years after perpetual.
I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you" (2 Tim
1:6). These words of our patron, St. Paul, to Timothy can
appropriately be applied to all of us most especially our
PV 2, 3 and 4,
who are called by virtue of the gift of vocation and religious
profession. But we are not alone : God Himself rekindles his own gift.
He gives us His Spirit who consecrates and sends forth. We are
configured to the likeness of Jesus Christ - "Not I live but Christ
lives in me" (Gal. 2:20) and we are urged to have an increased awareness
and audacity to do our share in Christ's saving mission within the
Church.
